Mechanochemical synthesis of pentaerythritol phosphate alcohol is disclosed. The synthesis is carried out by ball milling a mixture containing P 2O 5, pentaerythritol, an alkyl benzene having one or two C1-C5 alkyl groups, and a metal halide catalyst, in a ball mill as a reactor and at a temperature of 70-150° C.
