PURPOSE: To further purify drinking water by removing impurities and to produce water enriched in the content of calcium ions by packing a water purifier with a packing agent composed of particles of an unbaked or baked calcium phosphate compd.
CONSTITUTION: The packing agent for a water purifier is composed of particles of an unbaked or baked calcium phosphate compd. being a substance capable of adsorbing various cations and anions. As the calcium phosphate compd., hydroxyapatite, α-tricalcium phosphate, β-tricalcium phosphate and tetracalcium phosphate are cited and these compds. can be used alone or in a mixed state. Especially, a packing agent containing 10wt.% or more of tricalcium phosphate as a calcium phosphate compd. is slightly dissolved by passing water and can enrich calcium ions in water and is useful for the replenishment of calcium. The calcium phosphate compd. may be used in a powdery or granular form and pref. has a mean particle size of 5-1000μm.
