PURPOSE: To obtain an aromatic polyamide fiber having improved adhesivity to rubber and fatigue resistance in rubber by treating an aromatic polyamide fiber with low-temperature plasma and then with a specific treating agent.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyamide fiber is subjected to a low-temperature plasma treatment (preferably in a gaseous atmosphere such as argon under 10 -5-10Torr) and then treated with a treating agent consisting of a resorcinol.formalin.rubber latex(RFL) containing an ethyeneurea compound of formula (R is aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbon residue;l is 0-2) (preferably diphenylmethane diethyleneurea). The amount of the compound of formula in the above treating agent is preferably 0.5-30wt.% based on the RFL.
